Our perception and thinking are governed by patterns that are fed by the unconscious past and thus block our view of the imaginable new. We overlook it and, in consequence, pass it by. Individual and collective unravelling of such mental patterns, hidden assumptions, and barriers with appropriate techniques of reflection are basic requirements for establishing a first contact with the imaginable and fundamentally new.
Basic assumptions are reflected and explored in a dialogical setting. In an atmosphere of attentive listening and reflection and constant redirecting of patterns of own thinking and perceiving, a common urge for finding something basically new is created and envisaged, in the form of emergent thematic fields. They – similar to a hologram – reflect and recombine the partial aspects of the individual members of the innovation team. A container is formed and a frame is thus provided for holding all phases of the LEAP process, i.e. for the Emergent Innovation and also for the support by the management.
